Ronald McDonald House Wellington relies on the help of over 100 volunteers to keep the House running smoothly and reduce administration costs.
There are many ways volunteers can be involved with various levels of commitment, from helping out once a month to one day a week.

House Volunteers
We are always looking for a variety of volunteers at the House:
Weekday Volunteers help out in the office with administration duties and any other jobs that may need done e.g. checking in a family, picking up groceries.
Weeknight Volunteers cover the office between 5pm and 8pm, answering phones, checking guests in and out and overseeing the dinner programme.
Overnight Volunteers stay in a self-contained apartment within the House from 8pm to 8am; on call for any emergencies or late night check ins.
Weekend Volunteers assist the Weekend Supervisors with any jobs that need to be done – from gardening and cleaning to data entry.

House Cooking Programme
Our House Cooking Programme involves groups of volunteers cooking meals in the House kitchen. This not only helps the families eat well, but and also gives them more time to spend with their children. We are able to supply some basic food items and the volunteers bring the other ingredients with them.

Family Room Volunteers
There are 3 shifts available for volunteers in the Family Room, 10am–2pm, 2pm–6pm and 6pm–10pm. The volunteer role involves maintaining the cleanliness of the room, signing in visitors and offering support. This is a sole charge position as room supervisor.
