A family’s love is a powerful medicine and a strong source of courage. Children with life threatening conditions need more than good medical care. They need their parents close by for comfort and reassurance. Parents also need a place to turn to for added strength and understanding from others in similar circumstances. The mission of Wellington’s Ronald McDonald House is to fulfil these needs so that children are given every possible chance
to recover.

Who stays with us?

The families who stay with us have children with a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions - from cancer, to premature babies, to children hurt in accidents or requiring surgery. Some families stay one night - others have stayed more than a year. The average stay is two weeks.  Some families return over a period of many years.
