My son Pete was born with multiple health conditions. We have a special bond as my whole life revolves around taking care of him. Pete needs a lot of emotional support and I'm the one who holds his hand through everything so he needs me really close.
We've stayed at Ronald McDonald House regularly since Pete was born. As Pete requires ongoing treatment, it's become a huge part of our lives, our second home. I don't have to worry about where we can stay or how much it will cost, we couldn’t do without it.
When Pete's well enough to leave hospital, we wander across to the House. I can have some quiet time, or we have time out together, relaxing, reading a book, and recharging our batteries. People at the house are really kind and understanding; they even look the other way when Pete plays in the lift on his own!
