Our families
Ronald McDonald House has been a home to hundreds of families over the years. Meet some of our families:
Good mates give a lot of love...
Nathan's a great mate of ours, been that way for over 25 years. We're in the Volunteer Fire Brigade and we do everything together. He's the type of mate who’d do anything for anybody.
Grandads give a lot of love...
Elle was the eldest of my two grandaughters, and only 8 when they discovered she had advanced leukaemia. Then there was the mad trip to Wellington in a helicopter.
Grandmas give a lot of love...
When Sarah told me she was having a baby, I didn’t think for one minute that something would go wrong. People have babies every day. But at just 28 weeks things went wrong and my little grandson, Lochie, was born.
Mums give a lot of love...
My son Pete was born with multiple health conditions. We have a special bond as my whole life revolves around taking care of him. Pete needs a lot of emotional support and I’m the one who holds his hand through everything so he needs me really close.
Brothers give a lot of love...
I like going on camps with my brother. He’s my friend at school. He likes to play and have fun. I get sad and lonely when he’s in hospital and I miss him a little bit.
Friends give a lot of love...
Our babies both had unusual illnesses, I guess that’s why we got on so well. Marsha just understood, she was my support and the reason why I could cope with it all.
