About Ronald McDonald House
Imagine if you had to be away from home for days, weeks, or even months while your seriously ill or injured child received specialist hospital care in another city.
Unfortunately, many Kiwi families find themselves in this situation. That's why the Ronald McDonald House was created. For almost 20 years, we've offered temporary shelter, love and support to the families of these children from all over New Zealand.
The current House has 12 rooms and accommodates more than 400 families each year. Some families stay one night - others have stayed for longer than a year. The average stay is two weeks.
Recently, demand for acommodation in our House has escalated, and we've been forced to turn families away. Building a bigger, better House is the only way we can continue to offer our much valued service to every family who needs it.
