About Ronald McDonald House

Imagine if you had to be away from home for days, weeks, or even months while your child received specialist hospital care in another city.

Unfortunately, many Kiwi families find themselves in this situation. That's why the Ronald McDonald House was created. For the past 16 years, we've offered temporary shelter, love and support to families of seriously-ill children from all over New Zealand.

The current House has 12 rooms and accommodates more than 400 families per year. Some families stay one night - others have stayed more than a year. The average stay is two weeks.

Over recent years, the demand for acommodation has escalated, and we've been forced to turn families away. Building a bigger, better House is the only way we can continue to offer our much valued service to every family who needs it.
